SHM widens Chilean holdings

26th Apr 2012

PERTH, Apr 26 – Southern Hemisphere Mining has expanded its Llahuin copper project 250km north of Santiago in central Chile by completing an option over nearby ground and positive initial drilling results at two satellite prospects.

Southern Hemisphere has measured and indicated mineral resource of 106Mt at 0.4% copper equivalent (0.3% Cu and 0.09g/t Au) at Llahuin, and MD Trevor Tennant says it continues to add to the resource by pursuing satellite opportunities within economic haul distances. The aim is to define an operation capable of 45,000-50,000tpa copper metal plus gold credits at competitive operating costs.

Chilean subsidiary Minera Panamericana SCM will pay CLP150M (about $US300,000) and a 1.5% net smelter royalty to Minera Fuego to evaluate and acquire La Colina 2 exploitation concession. La Colina 2 and Mina San Francisco are within 10km of the Llahuin project.
