THE growth of a US coal company will be reflected in expansion of its asset management and ERP software user base under a $US2 million deal with the ABB software business Ventyx.

“We are actively building an integrated thermal coal mining and export business in the US and require business solutions that support our rapid-growth strategy,” corporate controller at Ambre Energy, Darin Adlard, said.

Ambre, which is also examining the viability of a coal-to-liquids project in Australia, is half-owner and operator of two producing thermal coal mines in Montana and Wyoming in the US, and has coal infrastructure development ventures with Arch Coal in Washington State, and in Oregon.

Under the deal announced this week with Ventyx, Ambre says it will standardise on the Ventyx Ellipse 8 enterprise asset management (EAM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution at its US mining operations.

“Ventyx Ellipse 8 … possesses the scalability and functionality we need as we develop long-term mining operations, and build out the logistical infrastructure to expand our markets,” Adlard said.

Specifically, Ambre would deploy Ellipse 8 modules for asset and work management, human resources and supply chain. The agreement also includes full application implementation, hosting and ongoing maintenance services provided by Ventyx’s managed services team.
