Plant problems halt Randalls production

19th Jun 2012

JUNE 19 – Production at Integra Mining’s Randalls gold plant east of Kalgoorlie in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia will be halted for about four days after striking mechanical problems with the tertiary crusher on Sunday.

New components are being installed, crushing and production are expected to resume on Wednesday.

The shutdown will impact Integra’s 16,000oz gold June quarter production guidance, although the volume will not be known until production resumes.

A new product screens unit was recently installed on the crushing circuit and has been operating well. It’s unclear if the tertiary crusher suffered damage before the screens were installed.

The Australian agents for the crushing units are travelling to site and, with independent experts, will determine how to mitigate the potential for further failures. Additional crushing circuit modifications already planned for July should reduce the risk of further mechanical failures.
