Testwork boosts IGO’s Karlawinda resources

29th Jun 2012

JUNE 29 – An update of the mineral resource estimate has trebled the size of the Bibra deposit at Independence Group’s 100%-owned Karlawinda gold project, 65km SE of Newman in Western Australia.

The 674,300oz JORC-compliant inferred resource (18.5Mt at 1.1g/t), 207% above the previously reported 219,900oz, primarily reflects the addition of fresh rock mineralisation arising from successful carbon-in-leach testwork. Cut-off is 0.5g/t.

A scoping study assessing both CIL and heap leach processing scenarios is due for completion in the September quarter. Openpit mining studies and process engineering design work have also started.
