Gang grabs Dynasty gold

25th Jul 2012

JULY 25 – A gang of armed robbers escaped with gold and silver worth over $US2M after a concerted attack on the processing plant at Canadian miner Dynasty Metals & Mining’s Zaruma gold project in the El Oro province of SW Ecuador.

Dynasty says the robbers escaped with dore bars containing about 1,300oz gold and 4,000oz silver.

Police are investigating the attack, early on Monday. No serious injuries were reported, although the gold storage room was damaged.

Dynasty is insured for this type of loss, but CEO Robert Washer says any delays in recovering the stolen dore bars or a full insurance payout could impact on the company’s liquidity and operations.
