Ma’aden picks Ventyx software
Staff reporter, 22 August 2012
AUGUST 21: Saudi Arabia’s largest miner, Ma’aden Gold and Base Metals Company, will deploy Ventyx Intelligent Mining Solutions software across four of its gold operations under a $US2.8 million deal with ABB company Ventyx.
Ma’aden said Ventyx software, including its core Production Accounting and MineMarket applications, would also be used at new mines. The software would aid in tracking ore movements, managing stockpiles, and tracking and managing logistics, sales and service contracts.
Ventyx COO Craig Jones said the strategic relationship with Ma’aden created growth possibilities for Ventyx in an important mining region.
Ma’aden said it planned to significantly expand its gold production in coming years with a number of new projects due to come online.
“Ventyx has a long and successful record of helping complex, large-scale mining operations such as ours to optimize their performance,” said the company’s president, Yahia AlShangiti.
“We have been impressed with both the company’s deep domain expertise in mining, and the power and flexibility of the software. We anticipate that Ventyx will be a strong partner for us.”
Ventyx Production Accounting streamlines metal accounting and helps track plant performance, while MineMarket helps miners monitor ore movements from mine to plant, and downstream to customers.
“The Saudi mining sector is growing and widely expected to become a third pillar of Saudi Arabian industry,” said Jones.
“This is a strategically important agreement with Ma’aden, in which we’re partnering with the region’s largest mining company to help further their mining operations.”
